What risks are we willing to take to bring a new technology into play? Who decides what constitutes acceptable performance (and acceptable risk?) Even if the risks were exactly the same, is there something less tolerable about a human being dying at the hands of an autonomous machine than at the hands of human error?
Tough questions. And we need to start addressing them.
