Greg “Surfdaddy” Campbell is a reporter for KurzweilAI News and regular contributor to H+ Magazine and Acceler8or. He also works in IT as a test engineer on web‐based adaptive educational assessment software that implements Bayesian item response algorithms. He started his career as an environmental scientist working on a database of bioindicators for the Army Corps of Engineers and environmental impact statements for the U.S. Department of Energy. His interest in computers led him to various software engineering roles in the private sector for Intel, Watson Wyatt (now Towers Watson), and several startups at the director level. Greg has attended leadership training at Harvard Business School and holds an MS in environmental science from the U. of Montana and a BA in philosophy from UCSD.
