Carl Shulman is a Research Fellow at the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence, where his research focuses on the possible consequences of different routes to machine intelligence, and the use of currently available data, e.g. from evolutionary history, to better estimate their feasibility.

 Previously, he worked at Clarium Capital Management, a global macro hedge fund, and at the law firm Reed Smith LLP. He attended New York University School of Law and holds a BA in philosophy from Harvard University.
